If a problem occurs with an ICANN-accredited registrar, the registrar’s data escrow account can be referenced and used to make definitive decisions on domain name ownership. - Registrar deposits via secure FTP (SFTP), which allows for content encryption, ensures transfer integrity and validates deposit authenticity
- Online RAID storage of encrypted, deposited data for thirty days in redundant form
- Tape backup of data, with storage for one year
- Destruction of “expired” data after one year
- Online storage servers located in Iron Mountain’s ultra-secure underground facility in Western Pennsylvania
