Mary Lahey, VP Healthcare Account Management, Iron Mountain
Barbara Manor, MA, RHIA, Senior System Director of Health Information Management, Exempla Healthcare
Formed
in 1998, Exempla Healthcare consists of three hospitals and a network
of clinics serving patients in the Denver-metro area. It is a
not-for-profit, community-based organization sponsored by Community
First Foundation and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health
System (SCLHS).
The $19 billion allocation in the economic stimulus bill continues
to make transitioning to electronic records a top priority. However,
this investment, although significant, is only the first step in the
broader adoption of electronic records.
One of the first hurdles in migrating to Electronic Medical Records
(EMR) is creating and implementing an effective transition plan - one
that improves access to patient information, automates workflows,
demonstrates a positive return and helps medical staff deliver safer,
higher quality and more cost-effective care. When done correctly, the
savings for records management can be immediate and substantial,
reaching upwards of $1 million annually for multi-hospital systems.
Participants will learn about:
- The phases of transition
- A proven approach in designing the pathway from physical to electronic records
- The benefits of a well-designed transition plan
- Exempla Healthcare's experience in transition planning and their journey to the EMR
Who Should Attend:
- CFO
- CIO
- Director of Health Information Management
- Director of Radiology
