Iron Mountain Acquires Domain Name Management Firm Arcemus® to Expand its Intellectual Property Protection Business Unit

May 3, 2004

BOSTON and Atlanta, GA — INTA 2004 (Booth #300) - Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM) today announced it has acquired the assets of Dulles, VA-based Arcemus, a leading domain name records management firm, in order to expand its intellectual property protection business unit, DSI Technology Escrow Services (DSI).

Arcçmus helps businesses significantly reduce the risk and total cost of managing global domain name portfolios. Specifically, the two-year old company offers professional online tools and integrated services to audit, validate, consolidate, register, modify, transfer, renew, and enforce domain name records around the world.

Arcemus serves a growing number of Global 2000 companies that need to manage their domain names as trademark assets. A large business typically has hundreds to thousands of domain names registered via multiple vendors in as many as 240 top-level domain (TLD) extensions around the world. Arcemus has observed more than 35% error rates in corporate portfolios, exposing them to unwanted risk, lost revenue, and litigation expenses due to trademark infringement and cyber-squatting. These companies struggle to develop and enforce policies for maintaining control of their domain names as part of trademark protection.

“The protection of an organization’s trademarks is largely dependent upon its ability to effectively manage domain name usage on the Internet. Large companies are now focusing on this issue very seriously and Arcemus has been dedicated to solving this problem,” said Jeffrey Johnson, president and CEO of Arcemus. Johnson, who brings a wealth of industry experience and expertise, will assume the role of executive vice president and general manager of DSI and lead an integrated management team.

“Arcemus is a natural fit with Iron Mountain because we know our combined customers will benefit from an integrated online service that protects their intellectual property such as domain name records, trademarks and mission critical source code,” added Johnson.

“Iron Mountain is committed to providing customers a total solution for managing and protecting their intellectual property and other vital records, so naturally Arcemus is highly complementary to DSI’s existing technology escrow services,” said John Boruvka, executive vice president of sales and marketing for DSI. “We’re excited about bolstering DSI’s service offerings and the ability to offer Arcçmus’ services to a much broader customer base.”

Iron Mountain’s acquisition of Arcemus continues an enterprise commitment to manage and protect its customers’ intellectual property information, and builds upon services already offered through DSI. The entire Arcemus management team will transition to Iron Mountain as part of the acquisition.
