A best practice for data protection
Despite skyrocketing rates of information theft, most organizations do not encrypt their backup data. In one recent survey, 60 percent of respondents said their organizations never encrypted backup tapes; the rate was even higher in security-minded sectors such as healthcare and financial services.
In contrast, Iron Mountain was the first company in our industry to recommend that encryption of backup data be adopted as an IT best practice. In fact, we’ve made encryption a standard feature of our online data backup services, Server Data Protection and PC Data Protection.
