Iron Mountain offers a range of Data Protection and Recovery services:
Offsite Tape Vaulting
For organizations committed to tape as a backup medium, Iron Mountain Government Services offers a range of data backup, offsite vaulting and recovery services.
Tapes are encrypted at the point of backup - making the data useless to thieves – and then are transported in customized, secure vehicles. While in our custody, they’re stored in environmentally controlled facilities and protected by multiple levels of security, including fully screened security personnel, card-key access, and video surveillance.
In the event of a disaster, tapes are quickly retrieved and delivered to your recovery location, ensuring prompt resumption of computing operations. For more details on Offsite Tape Vaulting options, click here. [link to OTV main page]

PC Data Protection
It’s a fact of life that mobile and remote workers rarely back up their PCs and laptops. PC Data Protection service from Iron Mountain Government Services provides a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy solution to this universal problem.
With this service, PC data is automatically backed up online, on a scheduled basis, with no intervention required by IT staff or the user. Data is encrypted at the point of backup and transmitted to a secure Iron Mountain site, where it is safely vaulted and always available for recovery purposes.
End users can quickly recover from common mishaps such as accidental file deletions and viruses. With just a few mouse clicks, a user can restore lost or damaged files to any computer with an Internet connection.
Delivered using patented Connected DataProtector/PC? software, this offering is available as a managed service or a licensed software solution.

DataDefense
So they can remain productive while on the move, government workers often carry highly sensitive data on their laptops, where it is vulnerable to many threats including hardware failure, network intrusions over wireless networks, and the theft or loss of the physical device.
DataDefense is designed to protect laptop data from all these threats. The service provides automatic, intelligent encryption of all sensitive PC files, without requiring any special action by IT staff or the end user and regardless of whether a system is online or offline. When a system is reported lost or stolen – or DataDefense detects behaviors that are inconsistent with authorized use – sensitive data is automatically eliminated and the PC is disabled, rendering it useless to thieves.

Server Data Protection
With vast quantities of data now residing in remote offices and locations – where it is often poorly protected – backup of distributed data has become an important challenge for government IT organizations. Unfortunately, tape backup methods are not ideally suited to this challenge. Once-a-day backups leave you vulnerable to data losses. The need for human intervention to manage media at many sites makes tape backup costly and cumbersome.
Iron Mountain Government Services addresses these shortcomings by providing affordable solutions for continuous online backup of distributed server data including email, database, and application files.
Critical server data is backed up securely, automatically, and consistently - and safely vaulted offsite at an Iron Mountain facility. Patented data reduction technologies greatly reduce data storage capacity requirements and related costs. Following a data loss or disaster, files can be restored within minutes to any system with an Internet connection. Continuous backup, including backup of open files, reduces recovery point objectives (RPO) to under 15 minutes. Delivered using patented LiveVault? technology, this offering is available as a managed service or a licensed software solution.

eMail Continuity Service
During any given year, there’s a 75 percent chance that a government entity will be hit by an email outage, with the average outage lasting 32 hours. The IMGS eMail continuity service provides you with a standby email system that can be activated in less than 60 seconds following a network interruption, facilities outage, or other event that disables email.
Working from any web browser, users can immediately send and receive messages from their standard email address. Because messages never bounce, email outages are transparent to citizens, partners, and others outside your agency. Optional ActiveMailbox? service further enhances continuity by providing users with access to their historical emails, including attachments.
