Iron Mountain adds Secure IT Asset Disposition Services to its GSA Schedule

Federal agencies now have a highly secure and environmentally responsible option for eWaste destruction and recycling

Iron Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE: IRM),the global leader in storage and information management services, announced today that its Secure eWaste and IT Asset Disposition (SITAD) services have been added to its U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 36 contract (GS-03F-049GA).

As agencies modernize and migrate to new technologies that allow them to innovate, drive efficiencies and enable new workflows, they also assume accountability for responsibly disposing of their old technology and devices. This carries with it a number of considerations, including compliance, cost, environmental and security concerns. Not following defined processes for IT equipment disposal, or having transparent visibility into the disposal process, puts agencies at increased risk of data breaches and regulatory penalties while potentially damaging the trust civilians have in their government.

The GSA Office, Imaging and Document Solutions Schedule 36 offers a range of goods and services to meet these information-related challenges for federal agencies throughout the entire information lifecycle. In addition to supplying office equipment and copiers, Schedule 36 offers Document Support and Management Services, which include Document Reproduction, Document Distribution, Document Conversion and Document Management. Destruction Services are available to agencies under Special Item Number (SIN) 51 507.

“The addition of Iron Mountain’s SITAD services to the GSA Schedule makes it easier for agencies to procure a comprehensive suite of NARA-compliant records management and storage solutions that span the full information lifecycle, including the responsible and secure disposition of their outdated IT assets,” said Michael Lewis, vice president and general manager of Iron Mountain Government Services. “Agencies’ discarded assets are kept highly secure throughout the entire disposition process, with secure transport that includes GPS tracking and a complete chain-of-custody audit trail from collection through processing. Iron Mountain’s recycling process is managed in an environmentally friendly way that helps minimize agencies’ carbon footprints and ensures eWaste does not end up in a landfill, supporting the National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship.”
