See articlesEvery day, frontline Mountaineers deliver for our customers. Now, come “Inside the Mountain” for these amazing stories, told by the Mountaineers themselves. Data Entry Coordinator Angelica Aguilera shares the inside story of how she uses cutting-edge tools to uncover the mysteries locked away in customer data.
Companies want to use AI to unlock their data. But experts estimate that a staggering 80% of data is “dark,” sitting in boxes in storage rooms or on hard drives, unorganized or uncategorized.
Angelica Aguilera brings dark data into the light.
“Companies have so many of these boxes, sometimes they’re no longer certain what’s in there. We’re the first step to uncovering that mystery for them,” Angelica said.
She finds joy in using the latest Iron Mountain tools – from Image on Demand to Smart Reveal, Smart Sort, and Smart Catalog – that bring clarity to customer data.
“It’s really cool to see all the new things we roll out to ensure the customer always gets what they want in a timely manner, and I love that I get to be a part of that.”
Rising from a temporary employee to a project specialist and now a coordinator, Angelica says she landed right where she wanted to be. Her manager agrees. “Angelica’s progress is truly impressive. She adapted quickly to her new role, and now she is taking on more responsibilities and mentoring others. She has especially grown in her leadership skills over the past year, significantly elevating our projects and our team,” said Esperanza Gutierrez, Operations Supervisor.
Q: What part of the job do you take the most pride in?
A: I’m proud of getting answers to customers right away. I’m really hands-on and I like to dig deep and solve problems. Because, if I was in their position, I would want what I needed right away.
Q: How do you keep yourself and your team focused on safety even when things are busy?
A: For us, the most important thing is keeping our area nice and neat. We recognize that our “paperwork” is important customer information.
We always make it a point to go for a walk at 3:00 so we're moving around, stretching our legs, you know, getting in that little bit of exercise, and just so we can stand up, take a deep breath, and move around a little bit. There's about eight of us, and every day somebody's, like, "Okay guys, it's 3:00 walk time." So then we'll all get together and just take a little walk outside.
Q: What’s been your favorite part about being a Mountaineer?
A: It's helped me to grow as a person. At the beginning I was a little timid. Of course, everybody is when you’re in a new position. But being a Mountaineer has helped me be more upfront and not be afraid to say, “Hey, we need to get this done in this timely manner.” It's helped me learn a lot.
