With pressing efficiency initiatives, federal agencies are looking off-site records storage options.

With pressing efficiency initiatives like Reduce the Footprint and the Office of Management and Budget’s Government Reform Memo (M-17-22) weighing heavily on agencies, innovative storage solutions are needed now more than ever. To illustrate, roughly 60% of agency records are currently stored by agencies onsite, including basement locations, cubicles and empty offices or conference rooms. As a result, vital agency-owned information is being exposed to undue risk, spanning everything from loss of records to obscurity to the unintentional destruction of records.

To combat these issues, agencies are looking at alternative solutions with a focus on offsite records storage. The benefits of offsite storage extend beyond just optimizing information storage and accessibility, also offering agencies options for managing and governing their stores of information. As such, agencies are increasingly looking to qualified, experienced industry partners to provide more efficient, cost-effective offsite storage options.

In this regard, we are pleased to announce the opening of our latest secure, state-of-the-art federal records center in Suitland, Maryland, located at the Andrews Federal Campus, immediately outside the entrance of Joint Base Andrews. The 125,000-square foot facility has a total capacity of 1.5 million cubic feet of records storage, and is Iron Mountain’s 10th facility to meet federal compliance standards for security.

This National Archives and Records Administration-compliant offsite storage facility provides agencies with a creative alternative for optimizing their records storage and real property investments. Our offsite storage facilities aid agencies in reducing their physical space requirements, while simultaneously enhancing the transparency and usability of information at the agency’s disposal. Moreover, this new secure storage facility is built from the ground up with the highest security standards in mind, not only meeting, but exceeding compliance requirements. We rigorously protect agency information against environmental hazards, offering built-in protections against extreme temperatures, fire damage, flooding and other risks.

We invite you to join us for our grand opening on April 3, 2018 at the Suitland, MD facility. This event will provide attendees the opportunity to tour the 125,000-square foot storage facility as well as view our innovative storage and security solutions up close.

Please join and register today. We hope to see you there!
